As a principal technical architect, Stephen joined OSI (bought by Xansa in 1999) to focus on strategy, enterprise architecture and consultancy roles. His assignments have included the following.

  • Principal architect and technical manager for the Irish League of Credit Unions, a large 500 branch retail banking operation, transforming and migrating many different branch systems to a single core system, encompassing distributed autonomy, telecommunications services, centralised transaction and executive information management, a single card services interface, Year 2000 compliance and accounting systems incorporating the Euro currency. He led the technical procurement team in the creation of a new central clearing business operation with facilities management.
  • Chief technical architect for a major global insurance broker, Aon, developing and reviewing the architecture framework, providing cross project and integration authority for its Document Management System based on SQLServer, FileNET and a number of integrated storage, recovery and archiving technologies.
  • Technical manager of the Data Management Group at Aon, a major global insurance broker, directing a team in Oracle, SQLServer & CA-IDMS development and operational support, whilst resolving planned capacity, licensing, recruitment and millennium rollover issues. Key projects over the period were: Internet/Intranet operational architecture, PeopleSoft HR migration development, mainframe and connectivity issues, brokerage middleware and network systems configuration.
  • Drawing on best practices in maintaining data warehouse/decision support management organisations he developed an organisational structure for the \”management of information\” group within Revenue Management at British Airways. He also made recommendations on strategies for the adoption of tools, middleware and OLAP developments.
  • Technical manager of the Lotus Notes migration and rollout team for Essex & Suffolk Water, reaching a successful conclusion to the project in a very short time-scale.
  • On behalf of the major utility Seeboard\’s Board of Directors, he investigated, reviewed and reported on technical and project management of its contractors\’ architectural and technical development performance, providing direction and plans for resolution and correction.
  • IT Architect for Norwich Union Healthcare, creating and reviewing the framework for migration and implementation of client/server and object-orientated middleware technologies.
  • Technical architect for the Dow Jones Telerate Infrastructure Quick-Strike Team on its global infrastructure and delivery system. As a member of the specialist infrastructure support team, he assured overall systems architecture and management through the provision of a global requirements management system.
  • Investigation and review of the IT exposure of BZW Equities Capital Markets\’ Year 2000 compliance issues across a wide range of hardware and software platforms.
