4 D Concepts joined with Fuel Matrix Limited to help with technology delivery of a patented method for reducing fuel loading on aircraft with a view to reduce the cost of burning fuel to carry fuel. 

4 D Concepts, interpreted the patent calculations, specified and adapted its own generic iOS code libraries (qForm Library) for custom form delivery and deployed an iOS application to provide pilots with a fuelling re-calculation.

4 D Concepts researched the fuel savings from historic data established through Virgin Airlines and Hawaiian Air and found that they were statistically insignificant and more importantly could not be predicted with certainty without increasing the risk to aircraft flight safety.

The patent was considered immaterial in a practical sense.

The industry had also moved from paper based systems to in-cockpit devices which set the standard for adoption for fuel saving too high for market penetration.

The fuel saving was subsequently only found to be effective for long-haul flights and the original market size for the business was found to be over-stated.

After 6 months, 4 D Concepts, consequently withdrew from the partnership.
